MLB Roundup: Cubs Dominate Cardinals 11-0 in Lopsided Victory
St. Louis, MO – The Chicago Cubs delivered a resounding offensive performance, routing the St. Louis Cardinals 11-0 at Busch Stadium on Thursday, July 7th, 2025. The victory marked a significant shift in momentum for the Cubs and highlighted a struggling Cardinals team.
The game was largely defined by a dominant pitching performance from Cubs starter, Luis Hernandez, who threw six scoreless innings, scattering just four hits and striking out six Cardinals batters. Hernandez’s control was particularly impressive, limiting the Cardinals’ ability to put together any meaningful scoring threats.
Offensively, the Cubs exploded, capitalizing on several Cardinals defensive miscues and ultimately overwhelming the St. Louis pitching staff. Javier Ramirez led the charge with a three-hit game, including a solo home run in the third inning. The Cubs’ lineup appeared to find its rhythm, consistently putting runners in scoring position and converting them into runs.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, struggled to generate any offensive production. Their bats were silenced by Hernandez’s precision and a generally uninspired performance from the rest of the Cardinals’ lineup. The team managed only three hits throughout the game, demonstrating a significant deficit in offensive output.
The 11-0 victory is a welcome turnaround for the Cubs, who had been struggling recently. The Cardinals, on the other hand, face increasing questions about their offensive capabilities and the overall performance of their pitching rotation.
The game concluded with the Cubs maintaining a strong lead, securing a decisive and largely dominant victory. The Cardinals will be looking to regroup quickly, while the Cubs continue their pursuit of a stronger position within the National League Central standings.
