History of Applebee’s
Brothers Bill and TJ Palmer opened TJ Applebee’s Rx for Edibles & Elixirs in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 19, 1980, which later passed into the hands of W.R. Grace and Company. By 1986, the company changed its name to Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar and opened its first location in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
Applebee’s concept focuses on casual dining, offering American dishes such as salads, chicken, pasta, burgers, and riblets, considered the chain’s signature dish. What was once a popular local restaurant has now become a popular chain with over 2,000 locations across 16 countries worldwide.
